Free Sailing Opportunity
It’s never too early in the year to think about the upcoming
sailing season. Some of us sail year round – be it on soft water (summer) or
hard water (ice in winter).
Objective: To get more
members and families from the
YMCA Course Description:
Learn to sail in the safety of the
YMCA Course Requirements:
Participants must be able to swim a length or two of the YMCA
pool and attend (8) – 1 1/2 hr. sailing sessions in a two week span. A number of
sessions will be available with dates to be determined later. Sessions usually
begin shortly after the 4th of July.
Early Session
– young adults – 3:30PM to 5:00PM
Late Session
– adults – 5:30PM to 7:00PM
YMCA Course Fees:
Young Adults
(10 – 15 years of age) $55 YMCA members, $65 non-YMCA members
Adults
(16 years of age & up) $65 YMCA members, $75 non-YMCA members.
(16 total sponsorships available per session)
Participants must be able to fulfill all YMCA requirements.
Openings for sponsorship will be as follows:
1.)
Yacht
Club members or life members, spouses and children
2.)
Yacht
Club members or life members grandchildren
3.)
Special interest groups or individuals as chosen by the MYC Sailing Committee.
-Sign up for sponsorships will be on a first come basis via
sign up sheet to be posted on the MYC bulletin board sometime in late spring.
-A deposit check in the amount of course fees will be required
for MYC members to participate in the program. Upon successful completion of the
course, your deposit check will be returned to the participant. If for any
reason the MYC member cannot complete the program, your deposit will not be
refunded.
-If there are not enough MYC members to fulfill the 16
sponsorships, the MYC Sailing Committee will contact special interest groups, or
any other individuals deemed as hardship, to fill as many sponsorships as left
available.
Sailing Committee Request:
16 sponsorships per session available at a maximum cost of $75
apiece, for a total funding cost of $1200 per session.
Funding Cost Replacement:

Stag
night raffles
2.)
Sponsored beer tent revenue
3.)
Club
fundraiser (possible Sailors or Boaters Night Party)
In Conclusion:
We are the future of this program. In order for its success, we must as a club, want for it to succeed. Be reminded that this can be a FREE way to get introduced to sailing if the participant completes the course.
